Happy 28th Birthday Babe

Today, September 11, 2017 would've been your 28th birthday. Instead, today we are all celebrating your first birthday in heaven. Going to your grave today was one of the most peaceful days I've had in a really long time. My sister and I brought a picnic, ate lunch with you, laid 28 flowers in front of your grave, lit a candle in your honor, sang happy birthday to you, laughed, and cried. My sister gave me some alone time with you and I used that time to lay with you and tell you all of the things I would tell you on your birthday if you were here. It's always when I talk to you out loud that the tears start to stream down my face, I think it just makes everything more real. I wish more than anything that you were still here. I think about where we would be, what we would be doing, and how complete life would be. It's just not the same with the other half of my heart in heaven, and the truth is, it never will be. However, I do appreciate the everyday reminders that you made it there safe. Today I went to pick up your flowers and the woman who owns the shop was just in Nashville and is thinking about opening up a shop there... I gave everyone that worked there your Keep Going Statement and a wristband. I got to your grave site and started talking to you and there was this crazy bird chirping in the tree right next to us and he never left the entire time we were there. Then I lit your candle and started singing happy birthday to you (with my horrible voice, sorry) and at the end I closed my eyes to make a wish and when I opened my eyes the candle was already blown out. Most people probably think I'm crazy, but that's fine I know it was you. Thank you for being there with me today, and everyday. People ask how I find the strength to Keep Going and it's all you. I am who I am today because of you and I am going to make the world a better place in your honor. You inspired people while you were here, but babe you wouldn't believe how many people you have touched since you've been in heaven. It's truly incredible and I am so lucky that I got to be yours even if it wasn't long enough. So here's to you babe, my husband, my best friend, my everything, Happy 28th Birthday!
